Mexico Delays Mandatory Implementation of CFDI 4.0 for Payroll Invoices

The Mexican government recently announced the postponement of the start date of the mandatory use of CFDI version 4.0 for payroll invoices.

Timeline

The new e-invoice format will be mandatory from July 1, 2023 – not April 1, 2023 as originally planned.

Impact

This is the third time Mexico has delayed implementing the CFDI version 4.0 for payroll invoices.

CFDI 4.0 was meant to be available from January 1, 2022, and fully mandatory from July 1, 2022. The expectation is that this delay will also be extended to all types of e-invoicing in the coming days. Fonoa is monitoring further developments and will alert you if any further changes are confirmed.
