US Sales Tax Rate Updates for July 2023

The following state, county, municipal and district taxes are set to change effective July 1, 2023.

The rate changes below will be automatically reflected in the Fonoa tax engine.

Alaska

The city of Shungnak will implement a new city-level sales tax at the rate of 2% The city of White Mountain will implement a new city-level sales tax at the rate of 1%

California

The city of Mendota will implement a new district-level sales tax at the rate of 1.25%

Colorado

The city of Grand Junction will increase its sales tax rate from 3.25% to 3.39%

Georgia

Ware County will increase its sales tax rate from 3% to 4% Taylor County will decrease its sales tax rate from 4% to 3%

Illinois

The municipal and district rate changes in Illinois effective July 1, 2023 are listed in detail here.

Kansas

The municipal rate changes in Kansas effective July 1, 2023 are listed in detail here.

Louisiana

The parish of Lasalle will decrease its sales tax rate from 4% to 3% Morgan City will increase its sales tax rate from 0.6% to 1.1%. A new district, Hwy 30 EDD, will be created in Ascension Parish.

Minnesota

The city of Litchfield will implement a new city level sales tax at the rate of 0.5%

New Mexico

The New Mexico state sales tax rate will decrease from 5% to 4.875% The municipal rate changes in New Mexico effective July 1, 2023 are listed in detail here.

North Dakota

The city of Frontier will implement a new city level sales tax at the rate of 1.5% The city of West Fargo will increase its sales tax rate from 2% to 2.5%

Ohio

Knox County will decrease its sales tax rate from 7.25% to 7.00%

Oklahoma

The municipal and county rate changes in Oklahoma effective July 1, 2023 are listed in detail here.

South Dakota

The South Dakota state sales tax rate will decrease from 4.5% to 4.2%.

Tennessee

The city of Somerville will implement a new city level sales tax at the rate of 0.5%, bringing the total local tax rate from 2.25% to 2.75%.

Texas

The city of Hawley (in Jones County) will increase its sales tax rate from 1.5% to 2%. Bulverde/Bexar County Emergency Services District No. 3 has abolished its sales tax. Effective July 1, 2023, the district level rate of 2% should no longer apply.

Utah

The municipal and county rate changes in Utah effective July 1, 2023 are listed in detail here.

Vermont

The city of Rutland, the city of Shelburne, and the city of Stowe will implement a 1% local option sales tax effective July 1, 2023.

Virginia

Pittsylvania County will implement a new county level sales tax at the rate of 1%.

Washington

The municipal and district rate changes in Washington effective July 1, 2023 are listed in detail here.

West Virginia

The city of Lewisburg, the city of Mannington, the city of Petersburg and the city of Summersville will implement a new city level sales tax at the rate of 1%.
