Taxpayers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will now have 14 days to issue tax invoices relating to periodic supplies and consecutive payments, as well as credit notes. This is a result of an amendment recently made to Federal Decree-Law No. 8 of 2017 relating to Value Added Tax.

Timeline

The amendments will be effective as of January 1, 2023.

Impact

The President of the UAE issued Federal Decree-Law No. 18 of 2022 on September 26, 2022, which introduced this new time limit for issuing tax invoice concerning periodic payments and consecutive invoices.

As the 14 day time limit had not previously applied to the types of documents mentioned above, taxpayers will have to issue their invoices compliantly.
