What remote work looks like at Fonoa

At Fonoa we are building a fully distributed team. It means that we don’t have a central office and all of our team members work remotely from different locations. We give our people the freedom to work wherever they want, from home, from a coffee shop, or a co-working space. Working in a distributed team is truly liberating but without a great culture, it can’t be effective.
We spend our time where it matters the most
We love working remotely in distributed teams. It is great to forget about commuting, long lines, office distractions, and have more focus and productivity. At Fonoa we combine remote working with an asynchronous style of working which means that we choose writing to communicate when meetings are pointless and meet when it matters. That doesn’t only make us more productive but it also gives us more flexibility when it comes to working hours. Some of us are more creative in the evenings, some of us prefer to work in the mornings.
We work with curious problem-solvers from all over the world
One of the best things about working in a distributed team is that we can hire the best people from all over the world. We can bring in the best professionals globally, no matter where they are located. As a result, we can work with dedicated, open-minded people from all backgrounds who bring in their different perspectives to help us on our mission to make taxes simple.
Since its founding, Fonoa is building a fully distributed team with members in more than 10 countries across Europe.
We operate on trust
This way of working needs a high level of trust within the organization. At Fonoa we set clear goals and don’t micromanage our people. We trust the expertise of our team and they take ownership over their work that directly influences the roots of our company. We have an open and transparent culture, where we value ideas over titles and where feedback is always welcome.
