Timeline

The Public Consultation started on October 13, 2023 and will run until January 12, 2024. There are still no foreseen timelines for adoption of e-invoicing.

Impact

In line with the VAT in the Digital Age (ViDA) proposal and similar initiatives in Europe, the Irish Revenue Office has launched a Public Consultation after kicking off internal discussions for the introduction of real‐time reporting requirements, particularly for B2B and B2G domestic transactions. According to Revenue, the system would involve an obligation for suppliers and buyers to report a sub‐set of e-invoices in real‐time.

Upon concluding the consultation, Revenue intends to engage with relevant stakeholders to discuss details on the structure, design and other aspects of the system.

There are still no roll-out timelines or details on the framework of the proposed system.
